Step 1 (Caputure Video)
Camera:聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Sony FX1
Captured format:聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 mpeg, 1440x1080, interlaced, 29.97
Premiere cs4 Timeline:聽聽聽聽聽 HDV 1080i (1440x1080)
-This is all fine and dandy works like a charm, clips play on the timeline in realtime, no red-bar, no yellow-bar, no-nothin
Step 2 (After Effects Time:-)
Import Clips Into AE CS4 -the same untouched mpeg that came right from the camera
Edit, Animate, Composite, Colorcorect like a madman -This goes GREAT i love AE, its why I wake up in the morning
Step 3 (Render...Back to Premiere)
Trying to find a video format out of AE that will play on the Premiere timeline just like the original mpeg OMG WTF VPO etc...
-I have tried and tried and tried to find a format that works natively in the premiere timeline out of AE and my health is seriously degrading because of this... Please for the love of God can someone finally give me a usable formula?
TY,

PS.聽 Sorry about the omg and wtf... idont even know what those mean, i just seen it on TV one day
PPS.聽 I realy do know what it means
After Effects to Premiere HDV...In order for any NLE to playback w/o rendering you have to use the same codec and frame size that the project is set up for. If that combination is not available you have to decide when you render.聽聽 MPEG renders have never been good from at compositing app. It's not possible to generate good GOP streams when your app builds one frame at a time. If you can't find the same codec in the output module then pick one that will render quickly. I'd suggest animation or jpeg at best quality.聽聽 Hope this helps.聽聽
After Effects to Premiere HDV...As Rick said, you can pretty much forget step 3. DV, HDV, DVCPro, AVCHD etc. are merely acquisition formats that are generated/ encoded by special signal processors in your camera and then transferred as a data stream to your computer when you capture. On one hand that is why you can play them in realtime at all on your comuter, but on the other hand, because they are all compressed, it doesn't exactly make sense for anything else and so nobody goes through the trouble of writing software encoders for them. Using intermediate formats is common everywhere and that means you use Animation or PNG compressed Quicktime files and similar and let your edit program do the encoding for RT playback. Or you use commercial, highly optimized capture and intermediate CoDecs such as Cineform and Sheer. On that same topic, realtime also depends a lot on your hardware specs, most critically harrdrive performance. If it is really driving you crazy, consider buying a RAID system. A simple external eSATA RAID with 2 disks can be had for 150 Euros, 4 disk RAIDs start at 250 and the latetr can deliver sufficient data rates to play uncompressed HD in realtime. Another thing to consider would be to use a dedicated capture card such as a Blackmagic Intensity, Matrox MXO or AJA Kona and exclusively rely on their hardware acceleration and CoDecs. As you see, there are enough options, it merely depends on your budget. Naturally, if you have no room for investments, you will have to make compromises and learn to adjust your workflow accordingly.

My system isnt the issue...
My configuration is as follows:Also... we bought the matrox rtx2 and didn't see any performance gain, so i called matrox and we went through a number of things and finnaly the matrox rep said ''You system is so strong that you wont see an improvement with our product.''
Sorry i logged in under my personal account... eostv %26amp; sofreeproductions are the same
I have the same issue and have never found a way to render directly out of AE in a form that would cleaning drop back into PPro. So instead, I render the AE comp to a lossless format and then encode (again) to HDV using Adobe Media Encoder or similar encoding software.
There is no way to generate MPEG trtansport streams from AE, so I don't really understand what you are trying to do. AE can output MPEG-2 program streams of course, but always within the limits specified by the BluRay/ DVD usage (which realyl is what it's meant for). You can try to output such files and transcode them with SUPER漏, MPEGStreamclip and similar tools, but it could take a while before you find the right combination of settings. Premiere not rendering the timeline/ conforming your clips is a whoole different matter for which you surely can get better answers on the PPro forum...

Thanx for the responce... i think this is probable the best option and i have considered it however i was hoping to save the extra step and disc space because i dont have use for a file that big.聽 Thanx again.
Mylenium... im trying to generate a clip out of AE that will natively work in my premiere timeline.聽 I didn't ''choose'' mpeg as the codec... that is the codec that premiere generates when i capture footage from our FX1.聽 Im begining to think that our whole workflow should be revised... after the initial capture from the camera should i reencode all the footage to a different format that will work natively in premiere AND AE?聽 If so, what recommendations would you have?聽 Again, time is money... so im looking for something that I can drop into a premiere timeline (what ever format that might be) and be able to work with it with out red or yellow bars.
And thank you for your suggestions up to this point.
Sidenote:聽 Our final output is HD streamed across the net (not broadcast yet:聽 although that will come sometime in the future).聽 720p is very acceptable at this point.
