Symbol Tool Options - translate please

From the CS4 Help:

Intensity Specifies the rate of change (higher values equal faster changes), or select Use Pressure Pen to use the input from a tablet or pen instead of the Intensity value.

Symbol Set Density Specifies an attraction value for the symbol set (higher values result in more densely packed symbol instances). This setting applies to an entire symbol set. If a symbol set is selected, the density changes for all symbol instances in the set, not just newly created instances.

Can someone put this into plainer English? I am trying all sorts of combinations, and I get the gist of what they do. But I am having trouble getting my mind around terms like ''attraction value'' and ''rate of change'' as they apply to these tools. Also how they affect one another.

Thanks.

Man all this uber-geek lingo just makes my head hurt. I tend to look read over the manual section and then just do a few tests of the tool and I always walk away with a better understanding then the manual can give. Academic knowledge vs hands on learning.

I'll try

Intensity = the rate the symbol instances will appear in your art

Selecting Pressure will allow you to control that rate depending on the pressure you apply.

Press hard and the instances will appear faster press softly they will appear slower.

Density like in photography seems hard for people to understand.

It means how closely space the symbols will be to each other

So a high or heavy density will have the symbols closer together

And a low or light density will spread them out more.

That helps a lot, Wade. Gold star.

Oh Boy Oh Boy! A gold star!

I have big problem with the way they write things myself but some of it is actually initiated because of legal reasons and not technical requirements.

but that is the world we live in.

Of course sometimes the developer wants to appear high end so high end language is used.
