Click Box settings work 1st time...

I am using Adobe Captivate 4, to create an executable stand-alone lesson (.exe) using Flash Player 10.?I do not show a skin; instead, I create my own navigation by inserting ''back'' and ''next'' buttons on every slide.?Slides 45, 46, and 47 each have one click box, with the following settings:

on success, go to next slide

Allow user 2 attempts

after last attempt, continue

Options -%26gt; Display click box for specific time, appear after 0 sec.?The only option I selected is ''pause project until user clicks''.

Upon running through the lesson, it works fine, i.e., after the 2nd incorrect click, it ''continues'' to display a text box that tells them where they should have clicked.?However, if I return to these slides (either by clicking ''back'' or navigating back with the TOC), it doesn't work properly.?This is what happens:

Whatever slide I go back to (say 45), then it allows an infinite number of incorrect clicks.?If I click the right area, it will correctly navigate to the next slide.?After finally clicking on the correct area, once on slide 46, then it only allows me one incorrect click before it continues on to display the text box which gives the correct answer.

Any ideas how to fix this problem??Works fine the first time, but then upon returning to the slide, it either allows infinite or only one incorrect attempts, even though my settings specified two attempts.?What's the deal??Many thanks!

Hi there

I cannot tell you how to correct the issue. Personally, it smells like a bug. I would encourage you to report it as same to Adobe. (Link for reporting is in my sig)

Cheers... Rick

I have a couple of questions.

Are you assigning/tracking points??If this isn't a quiz, disable reporting.

Could your Back and Next buttons be causing problems on the slides where you have a second interaction??Fiddle with those settings.

Just a couple of things I would check.?If it still doesn't work, send me your file and I'll take a look.

I did report this as a bug to Adobe, thanks Rick.?I haven't heard anything back...do you know if I will?

Leslie -- I am not assigning or tracking points...at all, anywhere in the lesson.?Reporting is disabled.

Thanks for the offer, but I am unable to attach my file, due to the content.

My ''next'' %26amp; ''back'' buttons have the same settings as on all the other slides.?But I am going to try to mess with it a bit %26amp; see if I can't do something to make it work.?I have it set to infinite number of attempts to click ''next'', maybe I'll change it to 3 attempts, which would eliminate the problem I'm experiencing where an infinite number of incorrect clicks can be made on the click box.

Thank you both.

I had one other thought.?Try clearing the 'pause project until user clicks' option on the click box and make sure it's set for 'Rest of slide' and 'On success: Go to next slide' (not Continue).?The button is pausing progress, so you want the click box to cause immediate forward movement to the next slide, right??Do you have the click box set up with a failure caption?
