.htm or .html?

I've read some other threads here about standardizing on .htm or .html, as I too have both in my project and it's wreaking havoc. So the question is ... which is preferable, .htm or .html?

I ask because I also notice that by default, new files created in RH are given the .htm extension.

.htm or .html?

Hi there

Most of the time you only need to worry with .HTM file extensions. RoboHelp normally creates and works with .HTM. I think RoboHelp for Word (ick, don't go there unless you are a masochist) allows you to output .HTML. But despite what some will claim, there is no technical reason .HTM won't work. If someone is telling you things MUST be .HTML, they are likely an HTML purist that is insisting on this format because of a false belief things just have to be that way. Those types are almost invariably using UNIX or LINUX and see Windows as a toy to be avoided.

Once in a blue moon you will find a situation where someone has configured some weird setup that only knows how to deal with .HTML files.

Cheers... Rick
