?brought an eps inI brought an eps into illustrator and want to select just one part of the image. I can't choose anything with my selection tools. I don't have the original file.

OK, where did you get the file and how was it made? An EPS can be almost anything including a raster image which would mean that there are no selectable parts in the file.

The file was originally created in photoshop by our communications agency. It's a medical illustration of patient/doctor with our device.

Which version of AI are you working with, CS3 or CS4. The how-to is different for each.

Then from File%26gt;Document Setup%26gt; select the Edit Artboard in the upper right. Make the artboard the area you want to use and then from the File%26gt;Export choose a file type and make sure Use Artboard is selected lower left.
