Come ON! I can't be the only person who frequently needs to export an MP3 clip from a video project. Did Adobe decide a small licensing fee would take too much of the $1600 I paid for their software suite, or are they just clueless that customers NEED this functionality. Don't tell me, ''Oh, you can export a WAV, then install and load a conversion program, then convert to MP3.'' I paid Adobe money to make my life EASIER. Why don't they care?
No MP3 Export? Is Adobe cheap or...Come ON! I can't be the only person who frequently needs to export an MP3 clip from a video project.
No MP3 Export? Is Adobe cheap or...Professionals don't care for MP3. If you want that format, use a consumer application.
Soundbooth will do this in your preference of bitrate.
There certainly is in my job. Perhaps people who just make feature films
don't need it, but I simply can't excuse Adobe for not including it. Erodes
my trust a LOT.

The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt
should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and
controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest
Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on
public assistance. -- Cicero , 55 BC
If you have a production suite with Premiere Pro, you also must have Soundbooth.
Premiere is not the tool for making mp3 files, but it is easy to transfer an audio track to Soundbooth, as Stan suggested.
Right-click any audio track, or any audio file in the project, choose Edit in Soundbooth. Then Save As and choose mp3 from the drop-down list.
It's similar in concept to making a dvd from Pr, and a lot quicker.
That's how the suite is designed to work.
I don't know if this helps but I have converted files to MP3 within AME.?First by exporting a file to AME.?Then Duplicating the file and choosing MP3 as the?format?I desire for the duplicate file.?Chris.?
How well did you think that AME did the compression, compared to Audition, or SoundBooth, or other Audio editing program?
Just curious,
Hunt
PS - I try to stay as far away from MP3, as I can, but then do not do Audio-only work much.
This is just one not true statement.
If I understood it correctly you wanted mp3 from premiere then why don't you just right click on the audio track on the timeline and select edit with a Soundboot or Audion (if Audition CS3 installed) and from there you can Save AS or Export to File from timeline to MP3.
This complain has no ground under it and made probably someone that is new to adobe product and I think this subject needs be closed, cause the feature are there you just unfamiliar with the product or don't know where to find it.
Well, maybe none of these ''professionals'' have?ever had to send out 8 hours worth of material for transcripts!
Of course it would be nice if the transcription function in Premiere actually worked...!
Great to know that AME and Soundbooth are both consumer applications though!
That's why these Adobe Premiere forums are such a kick... nobody gets any slack around here. You even refer to anything that remotely smells like consumer and you get wailed with a power washer. Love it. I'm serious, this forum has been a great boot camp, keeps people up to par. If you can get three ''yes's'' from the Harm/Joe/Hunt judge panel, you've gotten somewhere.

The purpose of this forum is to help people.?True; folk need to be able to help themselves, but if everyone had to qualify as a pro to ask a question, these fora would hardly be needed.
I started my video career as a hobby.?It grew and grew till I had no time to do my real job any more so I finally made video my full time work.?I learned on my own, on the job, and through helpful fora like this one. Now that I paid my dues, Im happy to help others where I can.
So; folk:?Ask away.?Not everyone thinks you have to be a ''pro'' to ask a question.
Wow! Glad I vented here. I hadn't even realized I had an audio converter in my bundle (I just use Premiere, Flash, and Encore). The right-click, open in Soundbooth, Save As MP3 works GREAT.
My apologies to Adobe and thanks to YOU!
Eric,
Glad that you found the path. Way back, when Audition was part of the ''suite'', I questioned why I would ever use it, as PrPro did quite a bit with Audio. Well, didn't take me too long to realize the power that I had installed right next to PrPro. Back in the pre-SB days, that Rt-click brought up Audition, and when I started using it, I nearly wore out my Rt-clicker!
Personally, I like the modular aspect more than a one-size-fit-all approach. I do like how most Adobe programs work together, often being called from within another app. Even when they do not, they fit neatly into my workflow, and always have.
Good luck,
Hunt
