In AA2 is there a preference option area where I can specify that new tracks added (via alt+A) are in Mono, not Stereo?
Default New Tracks in Mono?Sort-of. If you go to Audio Hardware setup%26gt;MV and select a stereo input as default (looks like [01S] rather than [01M] and create a new track, you can then use the 'apply to all inputs' option, and that appears to set a new track to have a stereo input whenever you create one afterwards. Well, certainly in the same session, anyway. Presumably if you make settings like that, and call the resultant session your default, then probably it will stick (haven't tried that bit).
No this isn't perfect, but it's as close as you can get, I think.
